WILDERNESS ADVENTURES
The purpose of Wilderness Training and Adventures is to provide you with a basic education and understanding of nature, along with guided access to wilderness areas. We prepare you to enjoy your reunion with nature, as part of a group, or alone, confident in your ability to survive comfortably in the wilderness. The activities scheduled by Wilderness Training and Adventures are designed to accommodate your needs, whether you have no experience, or are a seasoned packer interested in exploring unfamiliar wilderness areas. Activities range from one day courses in basic survival skills to extended trips into the Sierra Nevada High Country. The method of instruction practiced by Wilderness Training and Adventures is interactive: you receive information specific to your situational needs. This is not a scripted program. All events are designed around your stated objectives. All events must be scheduled in advance. No minimum number of participants is required. Trips to the Sierra Nevada mountains must be scheduled 90 days in advance for the months of June, July, August, September, and October. The guide fee for 5 day trips is $1,000.00 (up to 6 people). My experience in the High Country of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range began in the spring of 1954. Since then, I have enjoyed time each and every summer in the High Sierra. I began packing as a small child with my family on overnight trips to the alpine lakes of the southern Sierra Nevada. I began solo packing and "peak bagging" in my early teens, and have subsequently introduced many people to the hidden delights of the Sierra. I have been a paid guide in the Sierra since 1972. I was raised in Visalia, California at the base of the foothills leading to Sequoia National Park. Since my graduation from college, I have been a self-employed businessman in North County San Diego. I am single and the father of two children. In addition to the study of nature, my interests include athletics, music, and writing. During the summer months, I share my time between my home in Santa Ysabel, California and my summer home in Mineral King, California. Donn Bree, Ph. D.
